Currently the TSP "thrift savings plan" for Federal Govt....shows "system error" and no record of past balance ...it's the same thing as a 401k except for public sector
If the electronic records are lost due to a computer crash, does that mean you can lose your entire 401k balance?
And then there's a catch you never factored in....#2 below is a 401k risk you probably never considered
1) You contribute and have healthy return on investments and employer matches
2) You hope and pray the system doesn't crash or your 401k balance is erased/gone
