Resume Help - Somewhat Unorthodox Career Changer

Hello All,

To make a long story short, I used to be a high school math teacher but left the profession for a year so i could compete as a professional mixed martial artist and study for actuarial exams. I've won all 4 of my bouts this past year and passed the first 2 actuarial exams. I would like if some experienced actuaries or hiring managers could look over my resume and offer some guidance to if i should seek some kind of internships (I still need VEE credits so I could qualify as a student) or a full time position. Initially i had left out my unrelated MMA background but after reading resume tips/suggestions from other threads and receiving no call backs I tried my best to tie it in. Without it, i feel my application appears poor with a 1 year employment gap and not much that makes me stand out. I rewrote my resume and cover letter to appeal to a smaller consulting firm. There is one in my home town with 2 internship and 2 full time positions available. Unfortunately the internships are summer internships and don't start till June 2016. I'm just not sure if i should hold out for a full time actuarial position or simply return to teaching and try to lock in one of these internships. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob
