I normally don't use my dental benefits to a large extent, but frankly it doesn't seem worth it to sign up. I might as well just waive coverage and save all the monthly contributions I would be paying to put towards future dental expenses.
Compared to medical insurance, the networks are pretty bad and policies generally have very low annual maximums ($1,500 or $2,000 being typical), so they hardly even provide insurance for catastrophic events.
My one question is, how big are the discounts compared to those without insurance? Let's say I need a root canal - how much would I pay with insurance compared to what I would pay without insurance?
I think I am going to start waiving coverage in the future.

Is dental insurance a rip-off?
