I have enough tenure to create a thread for my team now I think, especially if there are going to be Red Sox and Yankees threads
The O's come into the offseason needing to bolster their pitching staff (particularly with Chen departing the rotation and possibly O'Day departing the bullpen). They may also lose Chris Davis given that he will command $20MM+ per year. They also need at least one corner OF (2 in a perfect world, but they don't have unlimited resources).
Surprisingly, Wieters accepted his QO and will be back behind the plate in 2016 at a hefty price tag. This limits the financial flexibility of the club in free agency somewhat...
Yesterday they made their first big move, trading their now-3rd catcher Clevenger to Seattle in exchange for Mark Trumbo + someone else: http://ift.tt/21vIAee
In my book this is a huge win, as Trumbo is maybe 60-70% of Chris Davis at about 40% of the cost for next year (with no commitment beyond 2016), and they got him without giving up any prospects to speak of. I do think it signals the end of Davis in Baltimore. I'm ok with it as long as he signs outside the AL East somewhere.
As of right now, this team could end up being anything. Adjective yet to be determined.
