Coriolis question

I'm having trouble with the following 2 figures:

Okay so I understand the first figure, the Earth is rotating counter clockwise, so a plane flying south without adjustment would seem to end up west of where it should be.

But in the 2nd figure, if the Earth is still rotating counter clockwise, why does an air parcel being pushed northward by the pressure gradient force end up to the east? I thought it would also end up to the west?

Please help a brother out!
