I wonder if the Christmas string lights tradition (lighting up rooftops and trees with a master circuit switch) started from the replicating the Northern Lights phenomenon as seen from probably Germany in Lutheran times?
Or was this a coincidence?
The longest nights of winter are this time of year, and though it's December 21st to be exact, the entire December 1 to end of January is pretty unchanged from winter solstice, except a tad more light on evening in end of January
