They seem like an abused method of linking two marginal distributions with some sort of correlation. I'm interested in anyone's stories of how/why they use copulas, though. Information on software used for simulation would be especially useful.
(And to preempt some horrible jokes... do I use one copula? No, I use a copula copulas. Or, I copula with my wife every day. Or, copulas are almost as great as duomos in Italian architecture. Or, the police-a came-a by earlier. The cop push-a the door, then the copula the door. Copulas are great... e.g., to be, ser, esse, sein....)
