Draws, Draws, Draws...

Personally I like draws. At my skill level they're incredibly uncommon. More to it, if a player doesn't screw up, he shouldn't lose. But today I heard about an anti-draw procedure that I found intriguing.

If and when a draw is agreed, players
  • swap colors, start over and
  • keep the remaining amount of time on the clock.
Only the first game is rated.

This was presented by GM Ashley during the broadcast for The London Classic, suggesting that it could increase interest in the game. He also said that a tournament (Brooklyn?) tried it recently.

My opinion is that this is unlikely. You may have other ideas. The "scourge of draws" gets attention every five to ten years or so...
