Geometric Distribution

I'm having a lot of trouble with the last 2 chapters we've been talking about dealing with the different distribution methods.

Could someone walk me through this problem and are there any good sources that will help me better understand what's going on? I've tried youtube but didn't have much luck.

Q:

If X1, X2, and X3 are independent random variables having the geometric distribution with parameter Theta, find the distribution of Y = X1 + X2 +X3. Identify the probability distribution of Y and state its parameters(hint: use the moment generating function method)
