Happy Friday, Careers! May it be a good one with less shit-posting.
I work on a team of 3 analysts including myself. One (not me) was recently promoted to a manager of a different team. My manager asked if I knew someone who might be interested in taking over that role. I do have a friend from college who has the right skill set we're looking for (SQL, Excel, a personality, etc), but no insurance experience. I'm also pretty sure it would be a big pay increase for him.
I have a few concerns about recommending someone and potentially talking them into taking the job.
Anyone have experience recommending a friend from your personal life? How did it go? Is there anything else I should be worried about when giving someone my recommendation? I have a good reputation at work and want to keep it that way. Should I do it or don't do it?

- He might suck (either he gets the job and does poorly or doesn't get the job because he had a bad interview)
- He could hate the work/people even though I like it
- He might turn down the offer and I've wasted my manager's time
