Or the knuckleheads who make the threats?
Yeah, I realize that anyone making a decision to ignore a threat that is then carried out would be absolutely ripped to shreds. Hence, the standard option of "an abundance of caution". Hence, the reaction in Nashua (some horse, wasn't he?), as well as in LA last week. Only NY had the fortitude to ignore the threat.
But really, if the goal is "violence to harm students and staff at both high schools", then why inform the school district, who'll, naturally, counteract the threat? And, of course, they're closing all the schools, not just the two high schools.
I can't imagine a scenario under which anyone would inform his victims in advance, other than that the perpetrator is making demands that, if not met, would result in bombs, etc. I doubt that lulling us into a sense of complacency would be a rational motive.
But, maybe I just have a poor imagination. Anyone have a better one?
And, are we not going to see a rash of copy-cat boneheads playing practical jokes? Has that rash just started?
