I have a friend who is looking to switch jobs in the near future (just got a phone interview). She wants to make sure she gets her bonus before switching jobs.
Is it common to ask the new company for more than two weeks to start the job? Would they be understanding of this situation? Would they offer to match the expected bonus with a starting bonus at the actuarial student level? If the new company agrees to wait 4 weeks, for example, when should she tell her current company about her leaving? Two weeks notice? Are there any legal implications?
