Actuaries in Education?

Recently there seems to have been a lot of education reform in the United States, does anyone know whether or not actuaries were involved in this reform?

Also, does anyone know whether or not actuaries work for the government in positions related to education?

I ask because it seems (to me at least) that actuaries, with the ability to use data to "predict the future" would be very useful in determining what might work really well.

There was also a recent thread on ways that people would fix education (linked below) where I found some really good ideas, which got me thinking about how helpful actuaries with some educational background would be in improving the education system.
