Job Purpose/Role

- Many opportunities are available in traditional actuarial roles: coordinate, prepare, and perform actuarial analyses to support the development of new life insurance products, pricing strategies, investment and hedging strategies, economic valuations, financial forecasts, reserve valuation, and evolving risk management.
- Our actuaries do much more than the traditional roles including: industry presentations, industry panels, and traveling with our marketing and sales departments. Success outside of the typical actuarial roles provides opportunities to further demonstrate leadership in the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the valuation activities for life insurance products related to IFRS, GAAP, MCEV and Statutory reporting bases, including:
o Actuarial financial analysis and reporting
o New product valuation modelling support
o Business and related forecasts
o Develop and implementation of new valuation methods, including principle based reserving
- Monitor the regulatory environment related to life valuation and financial reporting and ensure compliance with regulations and standards
- Support product management function
- Maintain strong control environment supporting financial reporting
- Assist in development and support of actuarial assumptions
- May supervise other entry-level actuaries. Training and direction of other entry-level actuaries
Key Requirements/Skills/Experience
To succeed in this position, you'll need 3+ experience in the actuarial field preferably within the Financial Service or Insurance industry, a four-year degree preferably in actuarial science or math, completion of an ASA working towards a FSA or recent completion of a FSA, Life Insurance experience, and proficiency in MS Office, spreadsheet and database applications. In addition, you should have excellent written/verbal communication skills and the ability to handle multiple deadlines.
