This specific thread wont be about actuarial per say, but i think the same thing applies. Basically my university emailed me right after fall quarter ended (Dec 2nd week) encouraging me to apply as a math tutor. This was something I wanted to do for a while, so I was excited to get the email (they email everyone who gets an A I believe). So I filled out the application and sent it the next day. I got an automated email saying they will discuss tutoring opportunities once winter quarter opens. I give it a week, and no email. I send the tutoring people an email asking about my applications whereabouts. I wait for a while and I get no response. 2 weeks later (today) I send them another email asking them if they already filled the position and whether they encourage me to reapply next quarter. IF they still don't respond, is it polite for me to go to the tutoring office and ask? My friend also applied, and he also didnt get any reply. My other friend, who applied as a writing tutor, got a position the day after. From my understanding, it is that they dont need math tutors at the moment... but shouldnt they tell us that? After all, they are the ones who emailed us encouraging us to apply...
