Yet another career changer needing some resume advice. I'm worried about the wordiness of it and that it may be too long. I also welcome all other critiques. I've also attached pdf and doc versions.

Sought out the opportunity to teach new courses and work with varying age levels. Started out with an interest in teaching 6th and 7th grade math and then pursued an opening to teach AP Calculus during my first year there. Received an AP Calculus course during my second year.

Taught Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and High School Exit Exam Preparation Courses. Had 95% Exit Exam pass rate in Geometry courses compared to a 73% overall pass rate for the high school.

Hosted 7 different student teachers in my classroom, each for 6 month intervals. After several months of shadowing, we collaborated on lesson plans and the novice teacher implemented them. Constructive feedback was given. Role required the ability to share both negative and positive comments in a way that would improve the student teachers’ work.

Presenter for the [Middle & High School] Parent Meetings
In 2013, the newly adapted Common Core Standards brought upon changes in the classroom and the school’s math course matrix. Many parents were highly opposed to the changes, and there was a need to address their concerns. An informational meeting was suggested to and approved by the principal.

AWARDS AND DISTINCTIONS
Fellowship with [Non-profit organization], June 2013- present
Created a proposal to address high failure rates in Algebra 1 at high school; proposal was accepted. Dis-aggregated and analyzed student data to find patterns in student failure and spent a significant amount of time discussing these patterns with colleagues and the principal. During the first fellowship year, introduced a math curriculum that challenged teachers to use innovative teaching methods to help with student achievement.

National Board Certified Teacher, December 2014
Showcased and demonstrated talent and dedication to the teaching profession through a sequence of math exams, essays, and projects. Approximately 4% of public school teachers in the nation are National Board Certified.
