A thread on a thread got me thinking on the vocabulary of the act of consciously following a precept. Bringing the general statement to slightly more specific, if asked to pick up a pen, I would say that the choice is either comply or defy if you were unaware of the pen. I have a record of emotional political discourse that I am aware of. That stated, are there more appropriate words to describe the choice?
