This piece was originally intended as a counterpoint to "Raise Voting Age to 25." But I say... Why not both?!
In all seriousness, voting should be based on taxes paid, and proportional to that. Then we won't have significant voting below 25 nor above 60... 65 at the latest. Maybe 67 under developing rules.

Young people go out all the time. When I was in college, I missed election day once because I was having sex. AND I’D DO IT AGAIN IF I COULD STILL GET LAID. (Okay... I wasn’t having sex, but I was trying to have sex. You take my point.) Are old people more informed? No, they are not. Anybody who still gets the majority of their news in print cannot truly be called an “informed” voter. Old people have lived longer, they’re probably more informed about the past. But at some point, the present passes them by. I don’t give a damn about which political candidate is going to bring us back to the “good old days.” Those days weren’t that good. I’m concerned about who is going to lead us into the unknowable future... a future where I’ll still be alive and old people won’t. |
Cap Voting to Age 60!
