Outlet Stores: Don't sell authentic brand leftovers at outlets, did you know?

They sell cheap knockoffs of their popular items at the outlet stores and now have larger margins at the outlet stores.

I discovered today that outlet stores don't actually sell merchandise that was in their original stores. They sell clothing made for the outlet store. The clothing typically uses inferior quality materials and has the logo on it. It's usually modeled after their more popular selling items in their main stores.

They also show the prices of the original higher quality clothing/shoes, then a marked down price. So you're not actually getting any discount. I never knew this until today.

I also came across this quote
Quote:

Michael Kercheval, president and CEO of International Council of Shopping Centers, the industry’s largest trade group, contends that consumers “fully understand” that they’re typically not getting authentic brand leftovers at outlets.
So did you know that outlet stores sold inferior products?
