The Life and Health (L&H) Actuarial Unit of the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (Office) is seeking a candidate to perform and/or lead actuarial reviews of models, assumptions, and documentation for financial oversight. He/she confirms compliance with state and federal regulations as well as all Actuarial Standards of Practice. The successful candidate will perform and clearly communicate accurate and insightful analysis of modeling, risk management, and valuation on an enterprise-wide basis. This is a full-time position. Relocation to Tallahassee, FL is preferred but not required. Growth and permanent employment opportunities may be available within the Office. Functional Responsibilities:
• Review Principle Based Reserving (PBR) models and memorandums.
• Review Own Risk Solvency Assessments (ORSA).
• Support the Deputy Director and the Chief Actuary regarding the adequacy of reserves and appropriateness of assumptions used in future cash flow projections.
• Experience in creating and/or analyzing models
• Keep senior management up to date on relevant NAIC discussions.
• Act as a consultant to other Office staff on actuarial matters.
• Potential to manage 1 or 2 actuarial analysts.
• Work on special projects independently or with other areas as needed.

Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or a related degree
• 3+ years related actuarial experience to include working with actuarial models for reporting, pricing, and/or valuation
• ASA designation and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries
• Proficient in Excel, familiar with Access and/or SQL
• Excellent technical, mathematical, and analytical abilities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work productively with various levels of management

Desired Competencies:
• 5+ years related actuarial experience
• Experience with Principal Based Reserving
• Knowledge of ORSA
• Experience managing or mentoring others

Salary:
• Salary range ($75K - $120K) will be commensurate with education and experience.
